I just came across this super fun new blog run by casting director Natalie Joos called Tales of Endearment. Ms. Joos in nuts about vintage, which happens to be a passion shared by many of her heavy-hitting friends. Recent posts include a thrifting trip with Hanneli Mustaparta, an afternoon scouring the Manhattan Vintage Clothing show with Phillip Lim, and a peek inside the closets of both Pamela Love and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld. Say whaaaat?? Yup! This shit is kinda blowing my mind...

Good stuff, Natalie! Please keep it comin' :n D

And the winner is...

...Kelly of Girl With. Congrats Kelly, your skirt from bOmode should be on its way in no time!

Although I did end up using a random number generator to choose her entry, I loved her outfit description that I decided to make a little polyvore mock-up of it! Kelly choose the Vintage Raffia Woven Tote, and then wrote:

"Peppermint colours! It fits the weather as it's getting hotter. I'd wear it with khaki linen shorts, a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a pair of Hasbeens, turquoise bangles, and red lipstick!"

Above is my (slightly embellished) version. Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway!! I'd like to continue to bring you fun, painless ways to win pretty free things--if any shops are ever interested, feel free to drop me a line :n )

WORK

I'm looking for a job.But seriously though...

I try, as a rule, to keep the more boring/tedious parts of my life off this blog (I save those for passive-aggressive facebook updates!) Today, however, I'm coming to you with a plea for help. Friends, countrymen, here's the bottom line: I need a job! A paying job, in New York City, to be exact.

Now, I know I'm not alone in this predicament, these days especially. Which is why I feel a bit funny asking for your help, it seems a bit presumptuous and strange I guess. But things have been kind of rough around here lately, and I have to admit, I could sure use a hand (or two or three!)

The majority of my experience up to this point has been in the fashion/magazine biz, including stints with Havanna Laffitte, BUST and FADER, but I also have several years of retail, food service and library experience to boot (edit: oooh and there's that BA in Film Studies I just finished, almost forgot!!)

If you know of anything that a writer/blogger/vintage shoe enthusiast such as myself might be able to do around here to earn some bread and butter, if you know of anyone I might get in touch with, or even if you only have a word or two of advice, I would be endlessly grateful if you could email me at the email on my profile or sirithorson@gmail.com.

I'm head over heels for this new Scout Holiday paint spatter necklace. I love the way she photographs the pieces as well, it's all just about perfect, really.

Exciting news my friends! I'm teaming up with Peggy from bOmode Vintage this week to give you guys a chance at winning this gorgeous tie-waist skirt (which also can be worn as a top!)

Here's some deets on the skirt:

• It's handmade from vintage cotton fabric.
• It's 17.7" long.
• The waist is elasticized, and can stretch from 25.5" to 29.5" -- HOWEVER, this measurement can also be adjusted, so please feel free to enter even if you don't quite fit this range!

How to enter:

• Visit bOmode's shop.
• Find an item you like and copy its url.
• Paste that url into a comment and tell me what you'd wear the item with (in real life or fake life, up to you!)

That's it! The giveaway will be open until 12:01am next Thursday morning, at which time I will choose a winner. Also, bOmode has kindly offered to ship worldwide, so this contest is open to every last one of you! Please make sure that I have a way of contacting you--if your email is on your profile that's fine, just let me know.

Good luck :n )

I wish upon wish that these wonderfully simple Marais USA sandals came in pink suede instead of pink patent (like their kitten heeled counterparts...only sans kitten heel. Cannot, will not get down with that.) I love the style and the crazy-bright color, but I think patent may be my least favorite shoe material. Suede on the other hand, oooooh suede. Anyways, I guess there's nothing left to do but say le sigh.

I had never heard of Spanish label Masscob until reading about it on Cheri Messerli's blog Scout Holiday. Messereli styled their Spring/Summer look book, as well as the beautiful photos up top, taken by one of my favorites Lina Scheynius. Needless to say, I love everything about this...except for the fact that it doesn't seem to be available anywhere in the US! Aaaargh. Still, it's awful nice to look at.

Below is a video shot for the line by Antoine Ricardou. Sometimes I find movies like this to be a little unbearably saccharine, but this one really rubs me the right way!

I'm kind of obsessed with these scalloped shorts from The Queen's Wardrobe (and I think maybe you know why...) even though I'd probably look all kinds of frumpy in them! Ever since I saw them on Alix though, I just can't get 'em out of my head.

The more peeks I sneak at Chloë's apartment, the more I'm convinced that it's got to be one of the coolest places on earth. Fitting, I suppose!

I love these outfits, especially that first one. This girl, she's got a knack all right. The colors, the patterns, that penguin...these photos are from Mr. Newton, but I know she was featured on at least one or two other style blogs previously. Anyone help me out??

I LOVE geodes, so wearing one as a ring would pretty much be the ultimate. I found this one in the Nomad Shop.

Current life wish: to be asleep already. Oops.
